I've been writing code since 1980. I keep meaning to stop, and I never do.

I was one of the first engineers at Stitch Fix and rode it from a scrappy startup past 150 people and through the IPO. I led engineering at ezCater. Before all that I built things at Google, Nokia, Ernst & Young, and Sabre. First engineer, engineering leader, the one still in the editor at midnight. Every time I got pulled up the ladder, I found my way back to the keyboard.

Here's the thing I care about, and always have: owning the result. Not the ticket. Not the task. The outcome. These days that means I can lead a room of people and run a fleet of AI agents at the same time, and I think that pairing is the rarer and more useful skill right now. Decades of watching software rot, deadlines slip, and scale go sideways don't turn into baggage. They turn into judgment, and now I can point that judgment at a nearly unlimited workforce.

I build and ship my own things too, and I write about what I learn doing it. The products and experiments live on Projects. The work I do for other people lives on Work With Me. Most of it is out in the open on GitHub.

I'm also at a crossroads, and I'd rather be straight about it. My role was eliminated in late 2025, so I'm walking two roads at once, on purpose: open to the right team, and building income of my own. The now page has the honest version.

Seeing a lot here? That's deliberate. Everything runs without me, and if the right role is the road, I take it fully. These ventures are paceable: I either stop taking on clients or hand them to operators. Building potential revenue streams while the market sorts itself out is just prudence.
